A Little New Year Perspective

I was updating my Weight Tracker on the Weight Watchers app earlier this morning, and I realised something.

I have pretty much maintained my weight for the last 3 months.

Hubby's birthday was 10th Oct, and since then I have lost 1/2lb.



And since my own birthday (19th August) I have lost 1 1/2 lb.



This YEAR I have "only lost" 1 and a half stone. in a YEAR.
0.4lb per week.


That's AWFUL!!


Seriously




Now let's flip our thinking.

On 5th January 2010, I walked back into my old Weight Watchers meeting carrying my tiny 7 week old son. I weighed in at 13st 5.5lb - almost 3 stone heavier than my goal weight, and 2 stone heavier than when they had last seen me.
I had returned for a few short weeks to try and lose the stone I had gained since my wedding, and then found out I was pregnant.

But that's fine!

You've had a baby. You're bound to put on weight. You'll lose it.

Now I would like to say here, that the moment  I found out I was pregnant, I decided I would not weigh myself. I chose to concentrate on growing a baby. I'd done Weight Watchers before. And I would do it again. I'd lost 43lb in around 8months in 2007 for my wedding. I could be back at goal by my birthday in 2010. easy :o)

And then I met my boy.



And I decided that HE was more important.

I'd lose the weight, but I would pay more attention to raising my son. Have fun bringing him up.
Lose the weight slowly, and healthily.
Take my time, make it a life change, and teach my son carefully about the importance of healthy eating.

And this time I would keep it off.




We all want the weight to drop off. We don't want to do the hard work that it takes to get there. Who's got time for that???

So when you look at my before and after photos and think "wow what a difference. I wish I could do that"

What makes you think you can't??

It hasn't got to be done today. Or tomorrow. Or next week.

Just make a start. Make some changes.
Attend your weigh in HOWEVER your week has gone.

Face it. Draw a line. Start again.

What is the point in giving up??
How will you get to where you want to be by giving up??

Easy answer : YOU WON'T

So make the change.
Go along to a meeting. Follow the plan. Eat healthily. Lose the weight.

But don't let it take over your life.

You can do it. And if it takes you a year. Two years. Five years. You WILL do it.

Look at the bigger picture.





In total I have lost 41.5lb in two years.

And that is AMAZING

Pretty good day today.

Done my weekly shop, got a kitchen full of fruit and veg, and meals planned until Tuesday night.

Monday : 'Bernard' (shepherds pie made with turkey mince)
Tuesday : Leftover 'Bernard'

I haven't planned anything specific for Saturday night - with it being New Years Eve, we have been invited to a house party, but as Bubs will be with us, we will just be popping by ... anyhoo - there will undoubtedly be nibbles, so I figured I would have a teensy bit there and then maybe just a couple slices of toast when we've put Bubs to bed.

You've probably noticed I'm not much of a party girl haha.

I reckon me and the hubster will be snuggled up on the sofa with a hot chocolate by half 10 ... in bed by 11 ❤  

ah well - at least I won't be eating, eh! :o)

I didn't plan on using quite so many weeklies this week, but we decided to have a Chinese and this is what happens!

I was good though - I pointed it as best I could, and took the points from my weeklies which as you've probably noticed I don't normally do on weigh in night.

I have made a shopping list, planned my meals for the rest of this week, and am going shopping tomorrow (Friday). I'm getting a tonne of fruit to snack on this week to keep the shakes away (suspected chocolate withdrawal) and buying ZERO chocolate (EEK! lol)

Weigh In Result 29th Dec 2011

Just a quick one and I will upload my tracker tomorrow.

Went to weigh in tonight simply hoping to have gained less than my last post-Christmas weigh in (4lb)


Well would you believe I STAYED THE SAME?!

Cos I can't!!


Now I'm gonna take this as a kick up the bum and take advantage of it :

I WILL NOT be going any higher.

I WILL NOT re-enter the overweight category (even 1/2lb gain would result in this)

I WILL get my 25% and the 25% charm I bought myself earlier this month.

I WILL NOT mess around anymore.



I would like to be at goal by my wedding anniversary (4th may) which is riDICulously do-able which means there are absolutely NO excuses!!!


Goal weight : here I come!!!

Completely Lost The Plot!

Yep. Lost Losty Lost Lost :o(




Now, this may come as a shock to some of you ...

I'll give you a second to prepare yourselves...







I'm actually starting to feel a bit sick and fed up of chocolate.

My next weigh in is on Thursday (tomorrow) and I am expecting a gain.

CHRISTMAS is most definitely OVER - So all I can do is face it, draw a line and get the hell back on track!


And this time, I AM getting back on track.

I have printed off some WW Tracker pages for my Tracker Filofax ( as seen here ), my chocolate from Christmas is mostly eaten or locked away by hubby into a code protected box (seriously. these are the lengths I have to go to - haha)

I will be making a food plan tomorrow and doing a food shop either tomorrow or Friday.

Hubby and I have agreed that he will also be making more of an effort for healthy eating and exercise in the new year - he doesn't need to lose weight in the slightest - in fact he just lost half a stone and we don't know how! (GIT), but he has decided he should do it for his health and also as a good example to Bubs.

And the exercise will be in the form of walking, on any afternoons that he manages to get home earlyish (starting Friday!)

Soo that is the plan



And this time ...

This is my road to goal.

2012 is my year.


As of right now I have 10.5lbs to go to where I want to be. (I will update this on my ticker at the top of the page after tomorrow's weigh in)

Weigh in result 21 December 2011

If I thought I had lost the WW plot before, that was nothing on this last week. And unfortunately it showed on the scales and I gained 1.5lb :o(

Weight this week was 10st 6lb which means I am literally the highest I can be without going into the 'overweight' category of the BMI range for my height!

Now, I am going to enjoy my christmas, but I am also going to do my damn best to not lose the plot again this week!

My normal meeting is closed next week only, so I have found another meeting not too far away that is open on Thursday 29th and will be going along to face those scales, because I know that if I haven't got to get weighed until the 4th I will write this week off and have a repeat of my 4lb christmas gain last new year!

errrrm NO THANKS!!

Spicy Tomato and Butternut Soup


1 tin chopped Tomatoes, 400g
1.25kg Butternut Squash, peeled and deseeded
2 Large Red Onions
1 Medium Red Pepper, deseeded
1 Stick Celery
1 Carrot, peeled
4 Cloves Garlic
1 Red Chilli, deseeded

  • Preheat the oven to 190ºc, gas mark 5. 
  • Cut the squash, onion, pepper, celery and carrot into chunks, and finely dice the garlic and chilli. 
  • Bung all the vegetables into a large roasting tin. Season generously with salt and toss together. 
  • Put in the oven and roast for 45 minutes, turning the vegetables every 15 minutes or so.
  • Add the tomatoes and ladle the vegetables into a food processor with 500ml of boiling water and blitz until smooth (do this in batches if necessary).
  • Pour the mixture through a sieve into a large deep saucepan, pressing down with a ladle to squash the vegetable purée through the mesh
  • Add another 500ml of boiling water to the smooth soup. Bring to the boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Season to taste and ladle into warmed bowls to serve.

Well, as you know I COMPLETELY lost the plot again the last couple of days, including today - having eaten 22/29 points BEFORE WEIGH IN TODAY, I was NOT hopeful in the SLIGHTEST!

Even before that I wasn't hopeful, but especially after.

I've decided it's medical.

 I have TUM.

The Uncontrollable Munchies.

So tonight, I deem it a Christmas miracle!

I LOST HALF LB!!!!




REALLY pleased that I haven't messed it up any further, and am really hoping  can get 1/2 lb off for next week as that will be my 25% and I will get my charm for my charm bracelet in time for Christmas :o) Extra present!

AWOL

As you may have noticed, I have been AWOL the last week.

I admit I did not track a single thing,
 I ate like a pig,
I went out for a meal,
and ate a riDICulous amount of chocolate.
I also was on two lots of antibiotics for my wisdom tooth,
AND it was my TOTM.

I was HOPING for a 1lb gain, as even that would have been a miracle, but I only gained HALF!!


So I figured I best take advantage of this gift and get back on the wagon, get back to tracking and blogging and do my best to be an absolute ANGEL this week!


I do NOT want to gain again next week!!!

I WILL NOT gain again next week!!!

The only big thing I have planned for this week is Cayla's birthday meal on Saturday, for which we are going to Chiquito's so I'm going to whip out my EOG and do my best to preplan.

And BEHAVE for the rest of the week!!

I did my weekly shop yesterday, so my house is full of fruit and healthy stuffs ...

So here goes!
